Thanksgiving is a Great Time for Health & Fitness!

It's November, and that means the holidays will be here before you know it! This is the time of year that people tend to either a) Give Up their health and fitness goals, or b) Go Strong!

Be sure you belong to the latter category ... Go Strong on your health and fitness! There's never a better time to commit. Don't put it off until January. You'll feel and look better throughout the season!

8 Tips

1. Don't skip your workout. Even if you're only able to squeeze in a short workout, it's better than nothing! Try to get in at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise — yes, even ON Thanksgiving Day!

2. Get moving before Thanksgiving dinner. This will help to burn off some extra calories and create a bit of a calorie deficit, which can help to offset the big meal later in the day. Go for a walk, run, bike ride, or take a fitness class.

3. Fill up on protein and vegetables first. Protein and vegetables are low in calories and high in nutrients, so they're a great way to fill up without overindulging. Fill your plate with lean protein sources like turkey, chicken, or fish, and plenty of non-starchy vegetables like roasted vegetables, green beans, or salad.

4. Go easy on the carbs. Carbs are easy to overload on, so it's important to be mindful of your intake on Thanksgiving Day. If you do choose to eat carbs, opt for complex carbs like whole-wheat bread or brown rice, and avoid simple carbs like white bread and sugary desserts.

5. Watch out for portion sizes. It's easy to overindulge when the days are shorter, there's great sports and new shows to watch, and it's Thanksgiving season. So be mindful of your portion sizes. Use a smaller plate and take your time eating so that you can savor your food and listen to your body's hunger cues.

6. Move around after dinner. Get up and move around after dinner to help with digestion and prevent sluggishness. Go for a walk, play some games with your family, or help out with cleaning up.

7. Don't be too hard on yourself if you slip up. Everyone slips up from time to time, especially during the holidays! If you overindulge, just pick yourself up and start fresh the next day.

8. Make fitness a family affair. Your Be Fit Cherie membership includes everyone in your household, so do some family workouts together! Or organize a Thanksgiving Day turkey trot/walk with your family.

Remember, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself and spend time with your loved ones. But don't forget to make time for your fitness too! Go Strong!
